Starting today, Lucknow’s iconic Charbagh Station is implementing revamped parking and traffic management rules aimed at tackling its chronic congestion issues. Northern Railways has entrusted the management of all parking lots at the station to a single private vendor to ensure streamlined operations.
One of the major changes includes a “no entry without fee” policy for commercial vehicles. Only vehicles paying a stipulated fee will be permitted to access the station premises. Additionally, parking will now be categorized into separate zones for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and cars, ensuring better organization.
For passenger convenience, the new operator will offer a prepaid auto-booking service, reducing wait times and confusion. Meanwhile, the pick-and-drop facility will remain free for a limited duration, with charges applicable for extended halts.
These measures are part of a larger initiative to minimize unnecessary vehicle stops and create a smoother experience for commuters. With more changes expected soon, Northern Railways aims to set a benchmark for efficient station management in the region.
