Design: Inspired by the Kia EV9
This car draws design cues from the Kia EV9, featuring a bold boxy stance. Key exterior highlights include:
- Vertically stacked 3-pod LED headlights with LED DRLs
- Sleek L-shaped LED tail lights
- Flush-type door handles (a first for Kia’s ICE lineup in India)
- Squared-off wheel arches housing 17-inch alloy wheels
Other standout elements include a kinked beltline near the C-pillar, body-colored B-pillar door trims, and a flat tailgate.
Interior and Features
The cabin of the Syros echoes a futuristic design, borrowing inspiration from the EV9. It features a dual-tone black and grey theme with leatherette seats and a 2-spoke steering wheel.
Key features include:
- Dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and driver’s display
- Panoramic sunroof and 64-color ambient lighting
- Ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers
- Dual-zone climate control with a 5-inch integrated display
- 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
- Wireless phone charger and remote window control
Safety Features of Kia Syros
The Syros is equipped with a robust safety package, offering:
- 6 airbags (standard)
- 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Dual-camera dashcam and electronic parking brake with auto hold
Powertrain Options
The Kia Syros is powered by two engine options:
Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission |
---|---|---|---|
1.0-litre turbo-petrol | 120 PS | 172 Nm | 6-speed MT, 7-speed DCT |
1.5-litre diesel | 116 PS | 250 Nm | 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT |
Unlike its siblings Sonet and Seltos, the Syros does not offer naturally aspirated petrol engines.
Positioning and Rivals
The Kia Syros enters the market as a unique offering without direct competition. It serves as an affordable alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos, while also competing with subcompact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Hyundai Venue.
